YOU MUST TAKE CARE OF HER WHEN SALSA DANCING
You are the leader on the dance floor, therefore that task comes with a certain amount of
responsibility. You must take care of the delicate flowers you are dancing with. The main
points that you need to consider when dancing and caring for your partner on the dance
flow are the following:
- Respect comes first, last and always.
- Protect her at all times
- Help her with anything that might happen
- It is all about her
- The show is really her, take advantage of that
Gentlemen, (and I can't stress that enough, always remain "Gentlemen") you must always
strive to take care of the precious gift you are carrying in your lead. Women love it
when you take good care of them while dancing Salsa. If you do it right and master
the "art", you will realize that more and more women will love and wish to dance
with you. You may even have to turn some of them away, or pull out that "Dance Card" so
they can all get their chance to dance with you.
(Now wouldn't that be something to smile about at the end of the night?)
You can take care of your Lady with some of the points previously noted above, however, there are
other points as well and there's more that you can do. Just remember to enjoy what you're doing,
enjoy your partner. When you put the points above into practice, you'll find that just like
anything else, it will eventually become second nature. So relax and don't forget to smile
and have fun.
The worse thing that you can do to a Lady, would be to do the very opposite of taking
care of her. Dragging her all over the dance floor, or pulling and pushing her arms
to the extent that you are almost yanking them off. Another negative thing to do
would be to use her as a shield against other couples. I'm sure that we have all
experienced this scenario way too often.
For those three to four minutes that you are dancing with her, you need to convey
to her, (through your skillful and artistic form) that she is the only one in the
world for you. That you only have eyes for her. She's not only the only one in the
room or world for you but she needs to feel that SHE is the most important person
in your life right now!
Trust me, she will most assuredly appreciate how she felt. So much so, that the next
time you ask her to dance, she will be less likely to respond with a "no".
When dancing Salsa, "you" are in control, the lead, driver's seat. Therefore, only go
through the roads that she feels comfortable with. Remind yourself that it's all about
her. As a matter of fact, I'm going to out on a limb and say the following, "The Better
You Make Her Look, The Better 'YOU' Look!" She is the "Showcase" your dancing. No need
to lift up your head to look around at who is looking at YOU. If you believe nothing else,
believe this, you can rest assured knowing that if you are making her look good on
the dance floor PEOPLE ARE WATCHING YOU!
In regards to my comment about driving only on the roads that she feels comfortable with,
what I'm trying to get across is this, be aware of her strengths and her weaknesses. Don't
force her to do things that you should know that she hasn't mastered or that make her feel
uncomfortable. If you notice that she appears to have problems with different steps or
moves, make sure you don't repeat them. She will appreciate that, it will show that
you are thinking about her and that you care.
Remember Gentlemen, when you're giving, you can't help but receive. Give your all to your
Lady partner and she will in turn reciprocate with beautiful smiles and a grateful
attitude. The end result is that you both win and have a great time in the process.
