TO ALL THOSE MOTHERS WHO LOVE SALSA

Being a mom is a full time job, and even though you are your own boss, you're always doing what pleases your little ones.

But what about being a mom and a Salera at the same time, sometimes it seems like you have to be one or the other and that's that. And what about being the mother of a Salsero, well the reason for this article is to give gratitute to all mothers in general, whether you have a baby, a kid, teenager, or a grown up that enjoys Salsa, or you yourself don't have any kids, but of course have a mother. Moms we really appreciate everything you do for us.

And even though dancing and having a kid takes up a lot of time, nothing compares to being a mother, it's that feeling you get when you realize that right there in front of you is a little someone who thinks of you as their only way through life, somebody whose future depends upon your actions, they learn from us you know, or maybe when you watch your babies dancing and realize they're not babies anymore, they have the ability to decide for themselves. Isn't the circle of life just amazing?

But ask yourself these questions...
  • Is this the end of your dreams?
  • Can your life as a Salera be over?
  • Will there ever be time for you to learn Salsa?

Come on mommies... let's face it, it's not about us anymore, "WE" brought our little ones to this world, and we are responsible for our actions.

But don't worry, having a kid does not mean that it is the end of your world, it's only the beginning, you just have to be patient with yourself, nothing happens overnight, everything takes time and don't forget "patience is a virtue"

Eventually, you will find time to go out, even if it's just once a month, or every other month, hey! something is better than nothing right? Here is some good advice for those moms and moms to be.
  • When you're at home alone, play some Salsa and practice what you know, or watch Salsa videos, "monkey see monkey do"(but don't force them to like it, they get bored easy, don't neglect their needs either, take it slow)
  • When you're driving with your kid in the car, play a good Salsa song, and sing it to them or with them.
  • On your kid's birthday parties, invite your Salsa friends, play Salsa and let your kid pick up on some moves or just let them hear the music.
  • Everytime you go out, always leave them with somebody you trust, that way you're not worrying about their well being, instead you are enjoying your Salsa crave.
  • The main thing is not to forget that everything takes time and of course effort, don't feel down thinking negative, always be positive and patient, "good things come to those who wait"

But if you come to realize that your kid just can not stand Salsa, not to worry, it doesn't mean you have to ban Salsa from your life, just don't exagerate too much in front of them, they will eventually get used to it. But if you find that your kid was a natural born Salsero to the bone, then what better gift than to introduce them to your world, raise them to live healthy and have fun while at it, let them be addicted to Salsa and not drugs. Let them get involved with Salseros and not gangs, teach them humbleness and not bulliness, encourage them to be friends with anybody and everybody, not just Salseros, and the good thing is that Salsa is easy to get addicted to... and it's a healthy addiction.

Imagine how good they will get as they grow, if you introduce Salsa to them when they're just kids, and it's amazing how natural it becomes to them... Once again I have to repeat, when you have kids is not about you anymore... BUT... it is up to you to show them the good ways before the see the bad ones.

They say that having a kid changes your whole life, and they're right, the key is accepting the change as a positive one, and you have to learn how to improvise and prioritize your goals, and while you devote your life to your babies don't neglect your needs either, if you don't love yourself how are you going to love others, and even if you're not a mom, maybe you're a Salsero or Salsera trying to make it in the industry, never forget who carried you inside of them for nine whole months, only moms understand those heavy days, it can be beautiful but at the same time it can be very depressing.

There is no love like a mother's love, and it's true, I myself love my mom and I love my son to death, if it wasn't for them I would've never gotten inspired to write this article. And to all those with no kids, hey you will plant your seed eventually, and remember this article when you have your own little roots, Salsa is great, is healthy, and very fun, pass it on.
