WHEN GIVING A PRESENT, MAKE IT A SALSA PRESENT
Since we are close to our anniversary, I decided to do a little article about birthdays. Yeah,
why not? I mean, after all... b-days come all year round!
So if you got a special anniversary coming up, or a birthday maybe... and not just that, but
it happens to be a Salsero/a who is the one that is turning a year older.
Well, what exactly should you get that person who already has everything? They got videos
of every congress and every intructional dvd that you can think of, so here are a few ideas
on what to get them.
For one, you can always count on clothes! But where to get them? Speciall Salsa looking
clothes?
There are plenty of stores in California that sell this type of clothing, but if you have
no way to get there or don't even have contacts, you can always order online. Yeah, the
old internet at your service! Just make sure you find out the sizes and such.
Another great idea is to get them some RARE, and I really mean Rare Sals music. We are
talking about 60's or 70's, paladium era is always good. We are talking about Fania
AllStars years. Now for that you need to look deeper... You can always order them from
sites that are located directly in New York, Puerto Rico and of course Los Angeles. A
great way to find out really rare Salsa but good is to ask your local DJ - Hey, they
might even be able to sell you some of theirs if you pay the right ammount!
Even though they got videos of everything, there is always something else out there...
remember, there are so many instructional videos, and there are even more coming out
every year, so if you look for them, you'll find it. Remember that the congresses are
all over the world, and they all have them every year, so that's always a good option
just as well. Just make sure you find out if the person's got it already or not.
Now, if it is you and a group of people trying to do something nice for that
special Salsero/a, you can have a nice little party. It's been a tradition to
have them all around restaurants and clubs around town. Invite all his/her
friends too, they'll love it, trust me! In this case, make sure you do
the BIRTHDAY SALSA DANCE. For those of you who are new to the scene, that's
where all the guys dance with the birthday girl, or all the ladies dance with
the birthday boy to their favorite song! It's so awesome!
If you get all your friends together and some awesome Salsa, who can't stop
themselves from having fun. You can also have it at your place as a surprise
party.
If you are trying to do something more intimate for your other half, then
things can get more picante even! But if you are barely into the relationship
what is good for them? Well, private classes are always good for couples. Best
friend, well, you can give it to them and they can decide to take a couple or
even take you to them. Make sure you do this with his/her favorite instructor. Even
better would be to book them for group classes as a whole, you always get discounts
when you buy more classes at the same time! If you do that for them... they'll be
your Salsa slave for life! Or at least be very greatful for them.
One of the best presents is to get them a trip to a Salsa event, or if
nothing is happening you can always take a small trip to a really good
Salsa club out of town. Better if it's the finals of a great competition,
or even a great Salsa show can be an amazing present.
So, whether you want to give them something BIG or just a nice and simple
present, there is some ideas you can rely on for your special Salsero
