This one goes out to the bravest dancers that dare to test their skills. You don't need a
partner. This one is ALL YOU... SOLO STYLE!
This competition truly all depends on you and you alone. This one will
determine who is the best in shines, freestyle, styling and body movement!
This competition TRULY determines the UTAH SALSA SOLO STYLE CHAMPIONS!
We will have professional Dance JUDGES for this competition
$400 in CASH prizes plus much more!
This competition may get divided into two divisions depending on competitors
If we get enough people for an Beginner/Amateur division, we will start one

RULES OF COMPETITION
GENERAL: Competitors must read and obey these rules
GENERAL: Competitors must show proper etiquette during the entire competition
GENERAL: Competitors may be male or female
QUALIFYING: Must sign-up in person at qualifying dates/locations
QUALIFYING: Competitors will qualify by dancing for the audience
QUALIFYING: Each competitor will dance up to 1 min to show their skills
QUALIFYING: The songs will be selected by organizers
QUALIFYING: Once quaifying dates are done, no new contestant may enter
QUALIFYING: Competitors must qualify one time at any of the qualifying dates/locations
QUALIFYING: Once you qualify, then you must get ready for finals
FINALS: All competitors must be there no later than 10pm
FINALS: Competitors must be READY to go ON STAGE by 10:30pm that night
FINALS: Be present for hearing of rules, judging, scoring and presentation
FINALS: Be present for lottery of order of showcases
FINALS: Order of presentation will be determined by lottery
FINALS: You may use any song you wish for the finals
FINALS: Your showcase must consist of 90% SALSA
FINALS: Provide your showcase music in CD format, bring two just in case
FINALS: Your showcase should be between 1min - 1:30min
FINALS: There will be a 30 second warm up
FINALS: You will be presented to the audience and judges
FINALS: You will be judged by a panel of judges who will score each showcase
FINALS: Make sure you give a good show to the audience
FINALS: Proper attire must be worn and costumes are encouraged
FINALS: After you do your showcase do not leave or change for results
FINALS: All decisions are final
FINALS: Always have fun, enjoy it!
BEGINNER'S DIVISION

PRE-REQUISITES
In order to ensure fairness of the competition, and to encourage the
advancement of future generation of dancers, the following rules apply:
- You have been living in the state for at least 6 months
- You never won top 3 in this competition before
- You are not teaching or getting paid for dancing

BEGINNER'S DIVISION MUST CONSIST OF AT LEAST 5 COMPETITORS
IF WE GET LESS THAN 5 IN THE BEGINNER'S DIVISION
WE WILL COMBINE THEM TO THE WOMEN'S OR MEN'S DIVISION, ACCORDINGLY

SCORING & JUDGING
The finals will be based on a 30 POINTS SCORE SYSTEM. We will have between 3-5 judges for finals.
TECHNIQUE = 10 POINTS
You will be judged on: YOUR CHEMISTRY, HOW SHARP YOU ARE & HOW CLEAN YOU ARE

MUSICALITY = 10 POINTS
You will be judged on: HOW DID YOU EXPRESS THE MUSIC & WERE YOU ON TEMPO

APPEARANCE = 10 POINTS
You will be judged on: YOUR COSTUME, SELF PROJECTION & INTERACTION
